THESSALONIKI – Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras hailed historic ties with Serbia on July 13 during a televised exchange with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic as part of a Western Balkans conference.
The meeting between the two men is the first step to the promotion of bilateral cooperation for greater security and stability in the region, Tsipras said and congratulated Vucic on his appointment earlier this year.
Vucic said some memorandums of cooperation that were due to be after the meeting which emphasized security and stability in the region in a meeting that also included Bulgarian leader Boyko Borisov, and came with a gang of Serbs being charged with beating to death an American tourist on the island of Zakynthos.
Tsipras, Vucic and Borisov of Bulgaria were also expected to discuss Thessaloniki train links with Burgas and Belgrade, as well as energy cooperation between the three countries as well as Greece’s dispute with the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) over what that country’s official name should be.
