Greece’s foreign ministry said on Sunday Athens rejects unilateral actions by Catalonia to undermine Spain’s territorial integrity, in the wake of the region’s parliamentary vote to declare independence from Spain.
“Greece supports Spain’s territorial integrity and rejects unilateral actions that undermine the country’s unity and the immutability of borders,” the ministry noted in a press release.
“We are monitoring the developments in Spain with concern, and we hope to see peaceful and democratic dialogue restored as soon as possible,” it contonued.
The press release follows a similar statement issued by Greek government spokesman Dimitris Tzanakopoulos on Saturday.
