South Korea to donate $800,000 to Greece for refugee support

The South Korean Embassy in Athens announced on Wednesday that the Republic of Korea will donate 800,000 US dollars to Greece to support the refugees “sheltered and cared for by the country”, adding the amount will be contributed through the UNHCR and used exclusively for the refugees living in Greece.

South Korea also contributed the same amount during 2016 as well as 1,500,000 US dollars in 2015 to the refugees ‘sheltered and cared’ by Greece for the same purpose.

“These contributions demonstrate the government of Korea’s commitment to offer its support for the emergency needs of refugees in Greece,” the Embassy noted.
