A meeting of UN special envoy Matthew Nimetz with Greece and the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) negotiators over the latter country’s name has been postponed to December, according to FYROM’s national news agency MIA.
Quoting diplomatic sources, MIA said that no reason was given for the change of dates, originally scheduled for November 20 or 21.
The meeting among the Nimetz and negotiators Adamantios Vassilakis (Greece) and Vasko Naumovski (FYROM) had been first announced by FYROM Prime Minister Zoran Zaev two days ago, after his talks with Slovenian Prime Minister Miro Cerar in Ljubljana.
Tensions between the two countries, Greece and FYROM, have been going on for years but their cooperation has also been extensive enabling tourism to benefit significantly and reach very high levels lately.
