Thirty-two Turkish nationals who were rescued by the Greek coast guard on Thursday night, after arriving on a rubber dinghy on the islet of Inousses in the eastern Aegean, have applied for political asylum, sources said to ANA on Saturday.
Most of the 32 individuals have a university education and include a family with four children. When they arrived at Chios’ port authority they noted they are being persecuted by the Turkish government, according to the same sources, and, now they are expected to be charged with illegal entry to the country and have their asylum request examined.
