A file petition to annul the decision to grant political asylum to one of the eight Turkish servicemen who fled to Greece after the failed coup in Turkey in 2016 was sent to Athens’ Administrative Court of Appeals on Tuesday, ANA reports.
Greek Migration Policy Minister Yiannis Mouzalas submitted to the same court a petition to freeze the Secondary Independent Asylum Commission’s decision to grant asylum to the Turkish helicopter co-pilot who is currently free, after remaining in police detention.
On Wednesday, the court will decide on the judge who will handle the case and determine the date for the first hearing, which will probably be within the next six months, even though the case will likely reach the Council of State, as it is expected that either the Greek government or the Turkish officer will appeal against any ruling.
