Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras had a telephone conversation with FYROM Prime Minister Zoran Zaev on Tuesday. Mr. Zaev expressed his optimism that a solution regarding FYROM’s name will be found in 2018, and underlined that once this issue is settled, his country will be able to enter NATO and start accession negotiations with the EU.
Zoran Zaev clarified that FYROM is determined to enter into substantial negotiations with Greece, in the following six months, to find a solution regarding the name issue. He added that he decided to spend the holidays in Thessaloniki so as to send a message that politicians are those who must open closed doors, so that citizens may communicate and cooperate better with each other, setting aside prejudice.
