Flags at the European Commission headquarters have been flying at half mast since Wednesday, in solidarity with the victims of the deadly fires in Greece, ANA reports.
European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker, who spoke with Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and President of the Republic Prokopios Pavlopoulos on Tuesday, said that the Commission will make every possible effort to help Greece and the Greeks.
European Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management Christos Stylianides is in Athens to liaise with Greek authorities and coordinate EU help in fighting Attica’s fires.
