Greece has managed to successfully rebrand itself from “Europe’s biggest headache” to a transatlantic problem solver, according to an “Atlantic Council” article by Damon Wilson entitled “Greece’s Turnaround: From Achilles’ Heel to Regional Bedrock”, ANA reports.
According to Wilson’s article, published on Wednesday, “Athens has proven to be a problem solver for the transatlantic community, projecting stability and providing leadership on a vulnerable southeastern flank,” while Greek PM Tsipras has moved from “bad boy of Europe” to “one of its most celebrated leaders.”
While Greece’s still stagnant economy “could well cost Tsipras his job,” the article points out, his government has “helped bring Greece back in from the cold”. While his election was initially viewed with alarm, far from leading Greece to exiting the eurozone, Tsipras had proved “more politically courageous” and pushed through a bailout plan despite its intense economic cost, according to the article.
