Main opposition New Democracy leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis visited the museum and medieval castle at Mystras on Thursday, during a tour of Lakonia in the Peloponnese. The main opposition leader was given a tour of the site and briefed on the conservation work underway by experts, according to ANA.
In a statement after his visit, Mitsotakis said the site combined a world heritage site with a natural landscape of “ unparalleled beauty” while highlighting Lakonia’s significant developmental potential. He also placed emphasis on the “ bold” entrepreneurs that were initiating investments in order to link the region’s cultural wealth with a new approach to tourism.
“ …the next New Democracy government will support precisely this developmental approach. With respect for the environment, by highlighting our cultural wealth and by linking tourism, culture and primary production, to finally exploit here in Lakonia, as wel have largely done in neighbouring Messinia, the great and unexploited comparative advantages of this very beautiful corner of our country,” Mitsotakis added.
