Greek Energy Minister meets US Assistant Secretary for Energy in Athens

“We support the peace and stability in the region and discourage any provocative actions from any side they derive” United States Assistant Secretary of State for Energy, Francis Fannon said on Tuesday after his meeting in Athens with Energy and Environment Minister Costis Hatzidakis, ANA reports.

Both Hatzidakis and Fannon referred to the close and of strategic importance cooperation between Greece and USA in the energy sector and on his part, Hatzidakis announced that in September the contracts for the concession of the sea regions west and southwest of Crete island for hydrocarbon research to the joint venture Total-ExxonMobil and Hellenic Petroleum will be tabled in parliament for ratification.

“This is my second visit to Greece,” Fannon said adding that this is indicative of the key role of the bilateral relations and Greece’s upgraded role as an energy hub in the region.
