Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis underlined his determination to make Greece “the success story of the euro zone,” in an interview with the Washington Post published on Wednesday, where he outlined how he hopes to “turn the country around”, ANA reports.
At the end of his four-year term, he said, he wanted people to say that Greece “is a different country from the country I inherited.”
“My No. 1 focus is the economy. We need to create jobs. We need to make Greece an attractive investment destination. We need to bring back young Greeks who left the country during the crisis,” the Greek premier underlined.
Describing himself as “non-populist, pro-West, pro-NATO prime minister” at the head of a “moderate, results-oriented, non-populist government,” Mitsotakis stressed the fact that he has put together “a government that includes lots of technocrats” and managed to recruit lots of people from outside politics.
