Greek PM: We will appeal to The Hague if we cannot find a solution with Turkey

In an interview with Greek newspaper “To Vima”, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said that he is open to the possibility of appealing to the International Court of Justice in The Hague, regarding the definition of the continental shelf and maritime zones in the Aegean and the Eastern Mediterranean adding that “we have nothing to fear of this new development as a country”, int.ert.gr reports.

He also said that when we appeal to The Hague we must be absolutely sure that we are right and be fully prepared to accept the final decision of such an international body, noting that “such an initiative would be supported by all political parties. It has to be. Judging by the political parties’ positions, I don’t see any real objection”.

The Prime Minister also referred to his forthcoming visit to the US, pointing out that Greece and the US are closer than ever and that our country is a reliable ally of America and he expects this to be confirmed not only verbally but also through actions.

“US support for East Med pipeline recognizes the need to diversify Europe’s energy sources, and with the construction of the floating gas station in Alexandroupolis, Greece is well on the world energy map,” added Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
