Greece, Cyprus and Israel decry Turkey’s active involvement in Libya crisis

“Turkey’s decision to deploy its troops in Libya is a dangerous threat to regional stability,” said the Greek and Israeli Prime Ministers K. Mitsotakis and B. Netanyahu respectively and Cyprus President N. Anastasiades, in a joint statement, according to int.ert.gr.

“This decision is a gross violation of the UN Security Council Resolution 1970/2011, which imposes an arms embargo on Libya, and seriously undermines the efforts of the international community to find a peaceful, political solution to the Libyan conflict. It signals a dangerous escalation of the conflict and a serious deterioration of the situation. Turkey must not violate the Libyan Political Agreement and the relevant UN resolutions. The impact of such a reckless act will be very serious for the stability and peace throughout the region. Ankara must refrain from such action, that grossly violates Libya’s national sovereignty and independence”, said the three leaders in their signed statement.
