European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen on Wednesday congratulated Ekaterini Sakellaropoulou on her election as the next President of the Hellenic Parliament, ANA reports.
“Congratulations to Ekaterini Sakellaropoulou – the first female President of the Hellenic Republic elected with a very large majority today in the Hellenic Parliament. Greece is moving ahead into a new era of equality,” the European Commission president noted in a tweet on Wednesday.
