The Croatian Presidency, the European Commission and the majority of political parties expressed the dire necessity to effectively protect EU’s external borders in Greece, prevent illegal entry of immigrants and condemn the practice of using refugees as ‘political pawns’ as well as President Erdogan’s ruthless blackmail, during the European Parliament’s plenary session yesterday, which was concluded in one day, due to the spread of coronavirus and the related restrictions, int.ert.gr reports.
The majority of MEPs expressed their unequivocal support for our country’s actions to effectively guard the border, noting that they wish to provide immediate and tangible financial and humanitarian aid based on a plan, in order to decongest the islands, by assisting in the relocation of unaccompanied and underage children, accelerating asylum procedures and enhancing border security.
