European Union leaders will organize a teleconference on April 23 to discuss an economic response to the coronavirus pandemic, European Council President Charles Michel said on Friday, a day after EU finance ministers agreed on a half-a-trillion euros emergency budget to help the Union’s coronavirus-afflicted national economies.
In a statement, Michel highlighted that “it is time to lay the ground for a robust economic recovery. This plan has to relaunch our economies while promoting economic convergence in the EU. The EU budget will have to play a meaningful role here.”
