Message of unity and solidarity from 2nd Thessaloniki Foreign Ministerial Summit

The foreign ministers of the Western Balkan countries and member-states of the surrounding region sent a message of unity and solidarity during the virtual 2nd Thessaloniki 2020 Ministerial Summit, held on Tuesday via video conference at the invitations of Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias and his counterpart from North Macedonia, Nikola Dimitrov, ANA reports.

The ministers agreed to continue to demonstrate unity and solidarity and step up their coordination and collaboration, in order to deal effectively with the pandemic and diminish, to the greatest possible extent, its extensive social and economic repercussions on the region.

Taking into consideration that the tourism sector, which is facing an unprecedented challenge, constitutes a major component for the region’s economies and societies, the ministers pledged to actively support all efforts and measures aiming at mitigating the pandemic’s negative impact, with regular cross-border communication that will enable the restoration and resumption of tourism activity.
