Greek minister predicts permanent lifting of restrictive measures in the economy by May

A new social contract will be necessary to manage the end of the coronavirus pandemic, Deputy Minister to the Prime Minister Akis Skertsos said in an interview to ‘Kathimerini’ newspaper circulating Saturday and is currently under consideration, ANA reports.

Skertsos expressed the certainty that “this summer will be much more free and optimistic than the last one” and said that “our lives will return to normalcy as of September.”

Specifically, he said that under current vaccine orders 50 pct of the Greek population will be vaccinated by the end of the first half of the year, reaching 70 pct to 80 pct by the end of August. “Therefore, we shall see a permanent lifting of restrictive measures in the economy in May,” he noted.
