“The suspension of vaccinations with the AstraZeneca vaccine is not under discussion. It is safe and effective. The European Medicines Agency has stated its opinion the day before yesterday regarding its safety and effectiveness, noting that the benefits exceed any risks,” government spokesperson Aristotelia Peloni said to OPEN TV on Friday, according to ANA.
Peloni noted that the danger is confined to rare incidents of thrombosis, such as the one in the UK where 30 incidents were recorded in a total of 18.1 million vaccinations. She also underlined that the National Vaccinations Committee will examine the Greek and international data and will decide if the strategy, in terms of this vaccine, will change.
