“The pandemic is still sweeping the planet and is not expected to subside in the coming months,” government spokesperson Yiannis Economou said on Monday during a press briefing, ANA reports.
“The government has a dual goal: protecting public health and gradually restoring all forms of public life,” he said.
“The two goals are obviously interdependent. Without stopping the pandemic, restoring life to its fullness is not possible. The vast majority of society has realized that the goal of getting our lives back is not easy. To achieve this we must collectively use the potential that science gives us. Part of this effort is the vaccination of professional groups such as health professionals who are active in areas of increased responsibility both to themselves and to society, to fellow human beings, to our country. The measures we have taken correspond to those taken in the rest of the world, fully respecting national and international human rights law,” he added.
