Greek Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, gave a note of hope for the new year with his New Year’s message, focusing on the upcoming reform projects, investments, new jobs, innovations, protothema.gr reports.
Referring to the aggravated epidemiological picture of the last days, he explained the reasoning behind avoiding a general lockdown while underlining the “lessons that we must use”.
Focusing on the plan to deal with the pandemic, he stressed that “all countries are facing this dynamic phenomenon. With tens of thousands of cases, but also fewer hospitalizations. While, especially in our country, we are living the transition from the mutation ‘D’ to ‘O’, which has different characteristics. This is the reason why our interventions do not remain rigid but are adapted over time to the facts. With a plan for market movement, social behavior, and the resilience of health structures. So, after all, we managed to avoid lockdowns and already celebrate Christmas normally.”
Mr. Mitsotakis stated that “during 2021, there were many national challenges. And to these, however, we responded with the prudence of determination. The national defense has been strengthened as never before.”
