“Profoundly saddened by the loss of life and damage following the devastating earthquake that hit Türkiye and Syria,” the foreign ministry noted on Twitter.
“Our thoughts are with the victims’ families, the injured and the rescue crews fighting to save lives. Greece has mobilized its resources and is ready to provide assistance,” it continued.
Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis also expressed his sadness over the devastating earthquakes in Türkiye in a phone call to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Monday.
The Greek premier conveyed the support and condolences of the government and the Greek people for the loss of human lives.
Erdogan thanked Mitsotakis for the support and Greece’s immediate aid response, as an aid team has already left for southeastern Türkiye.
