The region of the South Aegean has received over 1 billion euros for development, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said on Rhodes on Friday, ANA reports.
The tourism industry remained standing during the difficult years of the coronavirus pandemic, he stressed, speaking in Rhodes proper.
Mitsotakis added, “Our country’s image is improving in every location, but particularly here in the South Aegean you are the only region with such a high growth in population.”
Among other issues he addressed were Greece’s defenses, plans to build a radiotherapy center on the island, and the focus of his government on health and education, especially in training for tourism sector jobs.
“I want to welcome the new collective labor agreement signed with Rhodes Hotels,” he said and reiterated that there can be no development without boosting employees’ incomes.
