With the central message of the need to highlight the less prominent but authentic Greek destinations, Deputy Minister of Tourism Anna Karamanli participated in the “Unseen Greece” conference, representing the Prime Minister of Greece, Mr. Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
“The ‘Unseen Greece’ initiative is an invitation to see our country again with new eyes. Not only through the established and internationally prominent destinations, which are, without a doubt, a valuable asset for Greek tourism, but also through those lesser-known places, which remain authentic, unexplored and full of potential”, emphasized the Deputy Minister.
During her speech, the Deputy Minister presented the three main axes of the Ministry of Tourism’s strategy, which are directly linked to the national vision for sustainable and balanced development:
Geographical and temporal expansion of the tourism product, with the aim of ensuring that every corner of the country plays an active role in tourism progress.
- Development of thematic forms of tourism such as wine tourism, mountain, sea, and diving tourism, in line with new international trends and visitor expectations.
- Integrating sustainability into every policy, with an emphasis on environmental protection, strengthening local communities, and preserving cultural identity.
- “Unseen Greece” is not a romantic or abstract concept, but a coherent strategy with clear targeting, implementation tools, and interventions that are already underway”, she noted.
“The emergence of ‘Unseen Greece” is the opportunity to transfer tourism development to every corner of the country. To give life to places with dynamics but also challenges. To create new opportunities for employment, innovation, and local entrepreneurship”, the Deputy Minister pointed out.
Concluding her speech, she emphasized:
“Above all, we have the opportunity to see our country with a new perspective: with the gaze of the visitor who seeks authenticity, and with the gaze of the citizen who envisions a modern, sustainable, and just Greece, which progresses without losing its identity.”
