Located in Salobrena, in the south of Spain, Casa Del Acantilado offers stunning views of the Alboran Sea in the Mediterranean.
With its curved roof, large glass window and outdoor pool, the unusual property makes for an eye-opening spectacle.
The house was designed by Pablo Gil and Jaime Bartolome, directors and owners of GilBartolome Architect
Jaime said that the project looked to promote important ideas – such as ‘joyful living, innovative construction techniques to make the project feasible, the return of craftsmanship, and the cave as an environmental strategy.’
Creative process
The creative process behind the designs was extremely complex, Jaime said, as a young couple had proposed the house be built on a hill with a 42 degree incline.

It was decided that the house would be buried into a steep slope and feature two floors with a large terraced living area.
Inside, the ‘House on the Cliff,’ as the property has come to be known, can host up to 70 people, making it perfect for entertaining guests.

Jaime said: ‘The owner of the house is very happy and we have proof of him and his family enjoying life within the house.

‘The project has drawn massive attention from architects and designers but also from the general public.’
