The former ruler of Qatar, Hamad bin Khalifa, has been spotted walking about the streets of Nafpaktos in western Greece where he is vacationing.
Hamad, one of the richest people in the world, was seen walking with his entourage to a fish restaurant in the center of the town, before a speedboat took him towards a yacht moored offshore.
Hamad seized power in a bloodless palace coup d’etat in 1995. During his 18-year rule, Qatar’s natural gas production reached 77 million tons, making the tiny state the richest country in the planet per capita with the average income of US$86,440 a year per person.
He also founded the Al Jazeera media group, through which he exerted his influence across the Arab world.
