The Wolf of Wall Street, Jordan Belfort, crushed his birthday party in the hedonism capital of Mykonos in Greece, according to greekreporter.com.
The disgraced former stockbroker, resurrected by his tell-all autobiography and then made famous by Leonardo DiCaprio’s portrayal in the blockbuster movie, vacationed with his wife, Christina, on the glamorous island in the Cyclades.
According to his Twitter post on Monday, the couple spent a few days in Greece marking his 60th birthday.
He wrote: “Thank you for all the birthday wishes—I’ve had an incredible weekend in Greece with my family. Appreciate you all!!!”
The two posed for photos as they lounged beachside at the famous Jackie O’ Beach Club, according to reports. The couple reportedly stayed at the luxury Santa Marina Resort & Villas.
Belfort’s 2007 autobiography, “The Wolf of Wall Street,” described his drug- and sex-fueled ride as a “pump and dump” penny stock multimillionaire. The party eventually came to a stop when he was arrested by the FBI and jailed for securities fraud.
Six years after Belfort’s book was released, nevertheless, the Martin Scorsese-directed movie of the same name, starring DiCaprio in the lead role, went on to make nearly 400 million euros worldwide at the box office.
Following the movie and two more books, Belfort’s net worth is now said to exceed 100 million euros, and he is a motivational speaker who travels the globe. Pretty nice comeback!
Jordan Belfort Isn’t the Only Celebrity in Mykonos
The summer playground that is Mykonos has long attracted the rich and famous. This summer, that list includes NBA legend Magic Johnson and his family and friends. They have been traveling across Greece and spent July 4th on the island, where the LA Laker legend posted a video and photos on Twitter.
A recent report also showed that Mykonos recorded a rise in tourism of 29 percent compared to the same period in 2019.
The party island was also an international hub in ancient times because of its proximity to the island of Delos, the birthplace of the god Apollo and home to many temples and religious sites. Delos was considered the spiritual center of the ancient Mediterranean, as it even had temples to Egyptian gods, so pilgrims from all across the region visited the island.
