Firsts were reserved for Greece this year again in the World’s Best Awards 2025 announced by the major travel magazine Travel + Leisure, and are awarded annually based on the ratings of the magazine’s readers from around the world.
In particular, Paros emerged as the best island in the world for 2025, collecting a record score from the magazine’s readers (96.50). In the global ranking of the best islands, Crete follows in 11th place – and in 6th place in the corresponding European ranking – and Milos in 16th place – and in 7th place in the European ranking.
At the same time, Santorini and Mykonos are among the 15 best islands in Europe, in positions 13 and 15, respectively.
However, Athens also received distinction, which was named by travelers as the 14th top city in Europe, thanks to its history since antiquity, accumulating a score of 86.69.
Two Greek hotels, in Mykonos and Santorini, managed to enter the ranking of the top 100 in the world this year. These are the Grace Hotel, Auberge Resorts Collection in Imerovigli, and Santa Marina, a Luxury Collection Resort by Marriott in Mykonos.
The Grace Hotel was even named the best Resort in Europe, and Santa Marina the 7th best in the same ranking.
The World’s Best Awards have been presented annually for the past 30 years and highlight the best destinations, travel companies, and hotels that captivate travelers while creating memorable travel experiences.
Each year, for the purposes of the awards research, the magazine asks its readers to evaluate their vacation experiences from around the world, involving hotels, resorts, cities, islands, cruise ships, spas, airlines, etc. Almost 180,000 T+L readers took part in this year’s survey, while over 657,000 votes were recorded for a total of 8,700 hotels, cities, cruise companies, etc.
