Greece followed Spain’s lead in the list of destinations to visit alone this spring, according to travel dating website and app tourbar.com.
UK members (14.7%) named the short-haul destination as the country they were most likely to visit alone this spring with the idea of meeting a companion to join them for the journey.
Following Spain’s lead was Greece, with 12% of UK members naming it their top solo destination. Continuing the short-haul travel theme, Italy secured third spot (9.8%) for its designer shopping, cuisine and relative proximity to the UK. Meanwhile, the Netherlands was the fourth most popular destination (7%) due to sightseeing opportunities and busy calendar of events and concerts.
The most popular long-haul destination for TourBar’s UK solo travellers this spring is the Dominican Republic (6.7%) with members reporting its beaches and sightseeing opportunities as the main reason they planned to visit. Staycations in the UK took the joint 6th position alongside Cyprus (6%).
Mexico secured eighth position (5.8%) for its sightseeing, foodie and beach credentials. Closer to home, France (3%) was named the ninth most popular destination for sightseeing and short breaks and Malta secured 10th place (2%) for its cruise offerings and its beaches.
