The Turkish city of Antalya hopes for a future as a film metropolis.
The plot for “Antalyawood” is already reserved as producers and investors from the American film industry are expected to arrive in June.
The first talks in Hollywood are very successful, reported the mayor of Antalya, Menderes T?rel.
According to him, Americans search for a place that is cheaper than Los Angeles but offers the necessary geophysical conditions: right sunlight, mountains, sea and rivers.
“Antalya has all that,” said T?rel and added: “We want to promote our destination for cruise, yacht and art tourism as well.“
An important step towards this end was the opening of the Women’s Museum, Art Metropole and Kunsthalle, where late works by Andy Warhol are on display.
By 2018, more museums will be opened while events like film, ballet and piano festivals as well as an opera in Aspendos have already been scheduled.
