Two Greek beaches, Navagio in Zakynthos and Myrtos in Kefalonia are among the 10 best in Europe according to Conde Nast Traveller.
The leading travel magazine notes that “there’s certainly no shortage of beautiful beaches in Europe, but some are well, simply more beautiful than others. From Italy to Iceland (yes, you read correctly), we handpicked the ten best and most Instagram-worthy beaches across the continent.”
It describes the two Greek beaches as follows:
Navagio Beach, Zakynthos Island, Greece
Also known as Shipwreck Beach due to the ancient freighter buried at its center, Navagio is easily the most beautiful stretch of sand in Greece. It’s sheltered by sheer limestone cliffs and is so isolated that you can only access it by boat. While you can spend all day sunning on its powdery sands, its beauty is best appreciated from the viewing platform in the cliffs above (just follow the signs to the Agios Gergio Kremnao monastery).
Myrtos Beach, Kefalonia, Greece
Though all the beaches on the Ionian island of Kefalonia are beautiful, Myrtos is arguably the fairest of them all. Its sand is so white that it’s practically iridescent, and its water is so blue you almost have to see it to believe it. Throw in a killer sunset every night, and you’ve got the most Instagrammable beach in Europe (no filter needed).
