Demand spikes for Sporades islands in Eastern Greece

Tourist arrivals at the islands of Sporades, northeast of Evia in Greece have recorded a significant rise this summer with Skiathos leading the upward trend.

Based on data from the Skiathos Hoteliers Union, hotel occupancy rates have reached 100% since mid-June. Last weekend, 61 aircrafts landed at the airport carrying 9,700 visitors.

The numbers in the islands of Skopelos and Alonissos are also positive with hotel occupancy rates having reached 92 pct and 90 pct respectively.
