Tourist inflow to Greece outside the summer season has risen by 40% since 2015, Tourism Minister Elena Kountoura noted in Berlin on Friday, noting that at this rate by 2019 Greece will have tourism year-round, ANA reports.
The Minister is in Berlin for the International Tourism Fair ITB and, during a briefing to Greek journalists, she said that the ministry was promoting niche tourism and working on pilot programmes in areas traditionally considered summer destinations, such as the islands of Rhodes and Crete.
Among other things, she stressed that the islands with the heaviest migration inflows have been recovering, and that Greek islands showed an increase in revenues despite taxation.
