Greek islands of Santorini, Mykonos and Crete have been awarded as best islands in Europe and Greece among the top 10 destinations for historical treasures in the Leisure Lifestyle Awards 2018.
According to Global Traveler magazine, Santorini was elected as best island in Europe, while Mykonos ranked 3rd and Crete in 8th place. Mykonos also came in 7th in the Best Beaches in the World category.
Greece, as a whole ranked in 8th place as the country with the most attractive historical sites.
The yearly Leisure Lifestyle Awards are given every year after Global Traveler carries out a survey of its readers. This year’s survey took place from October 1, 2017 through January 31, 2018. The readers answered open-ended questions for the best in many categories of leisure, luxury and lifestyle travel.
The survey ran in the magazine, as an insert to subscriber copies, as a direct mail questionnaire, online at globaltravelerusa.com/leisureballot and emailed during the period in question. Only those questionnaires where more than 50 percent of the questions were completed were taken into account.
