Greek National Tourist Organisation (GNTO) President Angela Gerekou noted the need for the tourist product to be supported, in terms of increasing the focus on islands, so that small islands become the key players while addressing the 11th conference of the small islands’ network that was held in Ithaca on October 4-6, according to ANA.
Referring to the consequences of the recent collapse of Thomas Cook, she said that tourism is in its nature a volatile product: “This crisis should become an opportunity to totally review the operation of Greece’s tourism product in terms of its relationship with the major tour operators and our response to the international crises, in order to have the best possible resilience,” she said.
