Trends, challenges, and the future of the tourism industry in Greece and the Mediterranean were the topic of the two-day conference that was successfully organized on March 21 and 22, by the Greek student community of the London School of Economics and Political Science, at the central facilities of the LSE university in London.
The LSE Hellenic Conference: Greek Tourism 2025 – Redefining our Horizons, was welcomed with their opening speeches by the Minister of Tourism, Olga Kefalogianni, and the former Vice-President of the European Commission, Margaritis Schinas.
The presence of representatives from the wider political, diplomatic, and academic world was also significant, such as the Permanent Representative of Greece to the OECD, George Pagoulatos, the Ambassador of Greece to London, Ioannis Tsaousis, the Secretary General of the Greek National Tourism Organization, Andreas N. Fiorentinos, and the Governor of the Aegean Region, George Hadzimarkos.

The speeches focused on critical Greek and European issues regarding tourism, energy, technology, and artificial intelligence (AI) and provided an opportunity for productive discussions and potential emerging collaborations.
The conference was an ideal opportunity to connect Greek students with the wider Greek community and the Greek labor market, as major organizations such as EY Greece and PwC were also present, speaking with students and presenting them with employment opportunities in Greece.
The event attracted the interest of a large part of the Greek community in London, supporting the students’ initiative and actively participating in the discussions and proceedings of the conference.
The conference also received warm support from the New Hellenic Observatory Research Centre, with professors Vasilis Monastiriotis and Spyros Economides moderating panels on geopolitics and European issues, as well as the LSE Student Union and the company Metlen Energy & Metals.
