The infrastructure and transport ministry on Friday canceled the summer holiday leave of public transport staff in order to increase the frequency of services and avoid the phenomena of overcrowding that have recently been observed, ANA reports.
The cancellation concerns staff on buses and trolleys, trains, trams, and the metro system to ensure they can run more frequently.
Based on an updated schedule released by OASA on Friday, metro trains on lines 2 and 3 of the Athens metro will now run every six minutes, while trains on line one will come every seven minutes.
The new schedule also envisages more buses and trolleys on the road during peak hours, with extra measures if necessary.
