SETE: Appeal for the immediate restoration of normality on the road network

The Greek Tourism Confederation (SETE) is monitoring with particular concern the continuation of road network blockages, at a critical time for the Christmas period and winter tourism, as stated in an announcement by the Confederation.

The continuation of traffic restrictions burdens the daily lives of citizens and visitors and creates extremely difficult conditions for the operation of tourism businesses, particularly in winter and mountainous regions of mainland Greece.

For winter tourism businesses, the Christmas period constitutes a fundamental prerequisite for viability. Its loss does not merely represent a temporary setback, but raises an issue of survival, with direct consequences for thousands of employees and the local communities that depend on their operation.

For this reason, it is critical that there be an immediate return to the normal and safe operation of the road network, in order to ensure the unhindered movement of citizens, visitors, and workers, as well as the basic normality of the market during the holiday period.

Tourism is a collective asset for the country, and its protection presupposes solutions that do not shift the cost onto other sectors, employees, and local communities.

SETE appeals for the immediate restoration of normality, so that the festive period can be completed with safety and smooth operation.
