The Municipality of Chania is taking another significant step for sustainable urban mobility, launching a pilot operation of the new municipal electric shared bicycle system, i-bike Chania, starting December 2025. This system is set to replace the older conventional bicycle program.
i-bike Chania aims to facilitate daily transportation for residents and visitors, offering a modern, environmentally friendly, and functional solution for the city, in combination with services provided by regional parking areas and electric buses.
The stations have been strategically placed near municipal parking lots or central locations, aiming to provide alternative transportation to cars and consequently reduce pollution and noise in the center of Chania.
Specifically, the new electric bicycles are available at 8 stations in key city locations:
- Elena Venizelou Square (National Research & Studies Foundation Eleftherios K. Venizelos)
- Courthouse Square
- Markopoulo Park
- Municipal Port Authority parking on Dekalionos Street
- Kydon Municipal Parking on Peridou Street
- Regina Municipal Parking on Nikiforou Foka Street
- Kladsou Regional Parking
- Nea Chora, at the end of Papanikoli Street
The maximum duration of each ride is up to 3 hours. If this time limit is not exceeded, usage is free. Exceeding the 3-hour limit incurs a charge of 5 per additional hour.
Bicycles can be used quickly and easily through the dedicated mobile app i-bike Chania, available on the Google Play Store for Android devices and the Apple App Store for iPhones. More information is available at: https://www.chania.gr/ibike
