Air arrivals in Greece were off to a good start in 2016, according to Greek Tourism Confederation’s (SETE) January data.
An increase of 1.9% was recorded at major airports, with Athens leading in absolute numbers.
Overall, 272,243 passengers arrived in Greece in January 2016 compared to 267,091 last year, in January 2016.
Athens was up by 5.1% compared to January 2015, with 9,473 more passengers this year (196,000 against 186,527 in January 2015), while Thessaloniki saw a reduction of 5.6% in arrivals, that were limited to 73,335.
With regard to other airports, arrivals in Rhodes and Kavala increased by 30% and 27% respectively, but showed a small difference in absolute numbers compared to last year.
