Inaugural flight from new Paros airport to take off on July 25

The new airport on the Greek island of Paros will be fully operational from July 25.

It has a 2-kilometer runway which cost 15.2 million euros and was funded by the Public Investment Program as well as a 750-square meter terminal building and is expected to handle four times the traffic and contribute to an increase in tourism, strengthen the local economy and create new jobs

Olympic Air has undertaken to cover half of the new terminal building’s budget.

Greek Transport and Infrastructure Minister Christos Spirtzis also announced there are plans in the pipeline for upgrading airports on other Cycladic islands, including those on Milos, Naxos and Syros.

Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras is expected to inaugurate the airport on the Cycladic island, which will be connected with numerous destinations in Greece, such as Mykonos, Santorini, Crete and Northern Greece, and abroad. 

In the meanwhile, Olympic Air announced its latest offerings that include servicing Paros with larger aircraft, offering new seating options and availability at costs as low as 39 euros during August and September.

The Greek carrier is also launching a new route from Thessaloniki to Paros starting August 4.
