A JET2 passenger plane which had been circling Manchester Airport for 90 minutes owing to a reported problem with the landing gear has finally landed safely.
Flight LS819 departed for Rhodes in Greeen at 10.26 am and is believed to have been burning off fuel to be light enough to return to the ground.
The plane has been in a holding pattern at 8,000 ft and has recently deployed its landing gear.
A spokesman for the airport confirmed there had been a technical difficulty with the aircraft and that the pilot had requested a check of the gears and brakes following landing.
The Boeing 757-200 was due to arrive in Rhodes at 4.35pm today.
