Passenger traffic in the Athens International Airport soared 11.1 pct in June compared with the same month last year, totaling 2.18 million, official figures showed on Thursday.
Domestic passenger traffic rose 6.8 pct in June, while international traffic was up 13.5 pct in the month. In the first half of 2017, passenger traffic totaled 9.4 million, up 8.3 pct compared with the same period in 2016. International traffic was up 13.2 pct and domestic traffic was 0.1 pct higher.
The number of scheduled flights in the Athens International Airport approached 87,000 during the first half of 2017 (86,682), up 1.7 pct from 2016. Domestic flights eased 1.0 pct and international flights were up 3.7 pct.
