The firm managing the Athens International Airport (AIA) is expected to secure 670 million euros from commercial lenders and a European development bank towards covering a 1.34 billion euro-contract extension for the airport’s concession.
The concession for Greece’s largest and busiest airport will be extended by 20 years under the agreement.
According to reports, the European Investment Bank (EIB) will loan the holding company 250 million euros, with Greece’s four systemic banks also taking part as lenders.
The rest of the figure, at nearly 600 million euros, will be covered by the company’s cash reserves.
