An agreement to construct a modern international airport at Kastelli on Crete was ratified by parliament on Monday evening, despite criticism about delays in the large project, remuneration for expropriations and environmental concerns, ANA reports.
All parties except the Communist Party and Golden Dawn voted for the proposal, which envisions a new airport to replace the current Nikos Kazantzakis International Airport in Iraklio with a larger and more modernised one that will be able to handle the rising inflow of tourists.
