Austrian Airlines to connect directly Vienna to Kavala and Samos in Greece

Austrian Airlines, the country’s national air carrier, is relaunching direct flights from Vienna to the city of Kavala in northern Greece and the island of Samos in 2020, was announced on Wednesday at a special event in the Austrian capital, ANA reports.

The event was co-organized by myAustrian Holidays-Austrian Airlines and the Greek National Tourism Organization in Austria, where it was stressed that the new routes bring the Vienna-Greece direct flights total to sixteen.  

Beginning on May 20, the Vienna to Kavala flight will fly on Fridays and starting on May 26, the Vienna to Samos flight will fly on Tuesdays. These flights are so scheduled until September 2020 on Airbus 320 airplanes. The flights resume after a nearly five-year hiatus.

Austrian newspaper Kronen Zeitung recently published data showing that holiday bookings for 2020 have risen by yet another 10 pct in 2019, compared to the 21 pct rise in 2018 (up from 2017 figures).
