Domestic passenger traffic in Athens Airport surpassed 2019 levels by 1.5% in September

Data released on Tuesday show that September was another good month for the “Eleftherios Venizelos” Athens International airport, in which passenger traffic approached the levels of 2019, ANA reports.

According to numbers, total passenger traffic at Athens international airport for the month of September 2022 reached 2.58 million passengers, reduced by 3.9% compared to the traffic of 2019. Domestic passenger traffic reached and surpassed the level for the same month in 2019 by 1.5%, while international passenger traffic showed a single-digit decline of 6.3% relative to September 2019.

For the first nine months of 2022, the airport’s total passenger traffic reached 17.3 million and remained down 13.6% compared with the first nine months of 2019. Domestic passengers stayed below 2019 levels by 7.4 %, while international passengers by 16.3%, respectively.

In terms of the number of flights for the nine-month period in 2022, it amounted to 164,828, recording a drop of 6.9% compared to 2019. Domestic flights marginally exceeded the levels of 2019 (+1.2%), while international flights remained reduced by 12.9%.
