Ryanair’s new baggage and boarding rules

  • From November 5, 2025, Ryanair is making significant changes to its baggage and boarding policy, introducing stricter regulations and penalties. One of the most significant new measures is the permanent abolition of paper tickets. All passengers will now have to show an electronic ticket to board.

Stricter restrictions on hand luggage

The airline is reducing the limits allowed for free hand luggage, setting the maximum size to 40 x 20 x 25 cm. At the same time, it is increasing fines for non-compliance. Specifically, the cost of overweight hand luggage is rising from 60 to 70 euros.

Passengers who wish to carry a second bag will need to purchase Priority Boarding, the price of which is set when booking their ticket.

€100 fine for late check-in

One of the strictest changes concerns passengers who arrive at check-in less than 40 minutes before their scheduled flight time. In this case, a €100 fine will be imposed. The same fee will also apply to those who wish to book the next available flight if they miss their original one.

Recommendations to avoid problems

Ryanair recommends that travelers check the dimensions of their luggage before arriving at the airport, consider purchasing Priority Boarding if they need more luggage, and arrive at the airport on time.

The company allows flight changes up to one hour after scheduled departure, with the corresponding fee per passenger and route. In addition, aviation experts recommend that travelers carry a sufficient amount of medication in their hand luggage for the trip and any delays, as there are specific regulations regarding the permitted quantities and types of medication.
