Passenger traffic at the 24 regional airports managed by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) recorded an upward trend in the first quarter of 2025, recording an increase of 9.1% compared to the corresponding period of 2024.
According to official CAA statistics, total passenger traffic (arrivals and departures, domestic and international) at these airports amounted to 687,049 passengers from 629,557 passengers in the first quarter of 2024.
These airports include, among others, Heraklion, Kalamata, Alexandroupoli, Limnos, Ikaria, Paros, Naxos, Sitia, Karpathos, Chios and Kastelorizo, covering a wide geographical range of the country and playing a decisive role in connecting remote areas with the national and international air map.
The overall picture for all Greek airports is positive
At the level of all 39 airports in the country where commercial flights are carried out (24 of the Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority, 14 of Fraport Greece and Athens International Airport), passenger traffic increased by 6.5% in the first quarter of 2025, reaching 8,626,646 passengers, compared to 8,096,698 passengers in the corresponding period of 2024.
At the same time, aircraft movements increased by 5.2%, with 75,132 flights (domestic and international arrivals and departures) compared to 71,413 flights in the corresponding period last year.
This upward trend in passenger and aviation activity reflects the continued strengthening of the Greek tourism product, as well as the overall momentum recorded by the country’s domestic and international air connectivity.
